While people probably chattered about his lack of a father, the reporter hardly noticed. Unlike children who lost fathers to death, divorce or other circumstances, he never had a father to lose. Without a sense of loss drawing his attention to the void and compelling him to fill it, his curiosity about his father never outweighed the difficulty of finding him.
