To discipline church members as the disciples of Jesus means to teach so that they fulfill their responsibilities for the Lord of evangelism, service, nurturing and leadership, etc. The ministry of disciple-making, of course, is the work of Holy Spirit. Every church member who believers in Jesus Christ, fears God, and walks in the way of sanctification has a responsibility to serve God and man.
520 $a The church, through the disciple-making of all church members, can be renewed and the members can work in organic relations. For this purpose, a gradual growth process rather than spectacular jumps is needed in order to mature disciples. For the successful discipleship of ministry of the church members, the minister should design the educational material effectively-Bible, doctrinal contents related to the theology of redemptive ministry and teaching material for spiritual training.
520 $a Church education can not be accomplished automatically by the educational curriculum. Curriculum is just one of the instruments in order to achieve the purpose of church education. So, the true church education should be implemented in every area of church life.
520 $a The ministry of discipleship of church members is God's redemptive work because they become disciples in the true meaning--the disciple experiences the unity in relation between the biblical meaning and Calvin's life of discipline--by the lifelong educational curriculum which includes all the contents and processes of salvation. So, this curriculum is designed according to Calvin's theology of redemptive ministry to discipline believers in order to become mature disciples in their lives and works, to reach glorification ultimately by the work of Christ, and to restore the image of God.
520 $a In the redemptive ministry, the aids of grace (Word, sacraments, and prayer) given by God suggest the important facts in the composition of the graded curriculum for discipleship of all church members. However, these will be worthless unless the secret work of Holy Spirit operates in all the believers' lives so as to reach ultimate salvation.
