The purpose of this study is to identify present involvement and needs of senior adults at the Breiel Boulevard Church of God, Middletown, Ohio, and develop recommendations for a senior adult collaborative ministry. This study creates a senior adult profile of gender, age, marital status, educational background retirement status, housing arrangements, living situation, driving distance from church and availability of an automobile. These characteristics are used to determine areas of participation, preference and interest in helps items. Questionnaires were randomly administered to 150 senior adults ages 55 and older (70 completions, a 45 percent response rate). Survey results are used to provide focus for a collaborative senior adult ministry.

Results of the senior adult survey suggested the following recommendations: a senior adult task force addressing communication, spiritual, educational, financial, service and leisure concerns should be developed. Working collaboratively with the senior adult leader will give ownership to the senior adult. Seniors today are active. They want to be involved. It is important that the church see their ability, recognize their needs and provide avenues for ministry.
