Introduction. The rapidly growing number of senior citizens in North America is drastically shifting population demographics. The baby boomer age group is approaching retirement age. Not only is the number of seniors increasing, but on average, they also live longer. Research into "Successful Aging" or "Faithful Aging" has, by and large, focused on the general population. Very little has been focused on leadership in the church.

Purpose statement. The purpose of this study is to discover why some Mennonite Brethren pastors in Western Canada finish well. We shall ask the question; "What are the characteristics or factors that are conducive for pastors to live happy and fulfilled lives in their retirement years?"

Life-style change in retirement drastically impacts everyone. My intention is to discover the unique characteristics or factors that impact pastors when they come to the close of their active ministry. There are helpful recommendations for the pastors, both retired and active ones, and for church leaders, that come out of this research project.
