The purpose of this study is to identify a relationship between certifications in the field of Information Technology and economic success on the job. This study used one online survey and a series of face-to-face interviews. The survey was used to reveal attributes of individuals currently holding at least one certification in a discipline related to information technology and the interviews were used to determine the economic relevance of Information Technology certification from the hiring manager perspective. The perception of economic success from individuals holding at least one Information Technology certification was measured with objective questions. The perception of value was measured with both objective and subjective questions presented to hiring managers.
