Employee effectiveness is critical to the success in any business or institution. Human Resources provides the resources to help ensure employee effectiveness. In higher education 70 to 80 percent of their budgets goes towards employee pay and benefits. The primary goal of this paper is to elaborate on my practicum's experience and research. This report will cover my Practicum at Jefferson Community College and my research. The areas that I concentrated in are the hiring process, the orientation of employees, the roles of the human resource professional and the development of Human Resource in higher education. Along with my research I compared four other community colleges with Jefferson Community College's Human Resource Department. As you read you will see how higher education human resources are changing from the administration role into a strategic business partner.
