This study was an investigation of the lack of strategic planning and business processes for predominately Christian church information technology (IT) management in the United States. Keen's fusion map framework for IT management consisting of processes, people, and technology was the theoretical foundation for this study. Four research questions were applied to examine the relationship between the dependent variable, IT management effectiveness, and 4 independent variables: IT business processes, IT strategic planning, IT staffing, and church worship attendance size. A quantitative nonexperimental research methodology with a cross-sectional survey using simple random sampling was used to further the understanding of IT management in the church environment. A target population of volunteer and paid church IT professionals completed the researcher-designed web-based survey questionnaire. Data analytic procedures included descriptive and inferential statistics including regression testing to determine if a relationship exists between variables. The research findings revealed that there is a significant relationship and positive correlation between IT management effectiveness and church worship size, IT staffing size, and IT business processes and strategic planning, therefore, the null hypothesis were rejected for each research question. Improving the effectiveness of IT management with the use of IT business processes and strategic planning may have positive social change implications on church operations and will likely influence its spiritual mission in a positive manner by improving programs and communications for the local community.
