Thesis (M.E.)--The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, 2010.
This thesis intends to show a relationship between electrostatic precipitation and the reduction of CO concentration in car exhaust. The experimentation done involves a small size electrostatic precipitator (Sharper Image Ionic Breeze) placed within an exhaust chamber assembly that funnels the exhaust from a car past the precipitator. Since electrostatic precipitators are known to reduce the concentration of smoke and dust particles in air and simultaneously produce a byproduct of O3, which is an agent that helps in oxidizing CO into CO2, they could be a great benefit as an additional emission cleaner for automobiles.
