Biometric identification systems are key application for having a secure society. The acceptance of biometric identification systems has been low because of the problems they have such as: long acquisition time, environment and subject dependent, intrusiveness, and other related issues. This research is focused on design and evaluation of novel systems for acquiring fingerprint and iris biometrics from distance with least constraints and as less intrusive as possible to subjects. The preliminary software and hardware modules are identified and the designs of algorithms are given. Outputs of acquired images are evaluated and their identification performance is compared with the standard current acquisition systems.
