By reviewing the theoretical discussion on love and intimacy in the western sociological thought, the author has constructed a four-folded typology to investigate the image of love as a way of personal enlightenment as inscribed in the contemporary romance novel of Hong Kong.

"Seductive Love", as one of the emerging construction in the local novels, was found as a possibility to break the unresolved labyrinth on this issue.

Whether the main current of contemporary Hong Kong literature has fallen into the scenario of "no-love" or "narcissism", is just an outward representation of a more sophisticated way of pursuit.
