Drawing on Jacques Derrida, Jacques Lacan, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, Victor Vitanza, and Gregory Ulmer, my solution to the decline of print is a hyperbolically active and aesthetically aware form of reading and writing---"literacy in decline"---embodied in the writings of Victor Vitanza's and his notion of "anti-style."

I also examine how filial conceptions of identity affect pedagogical practice as elaborated and complicated via James Paul Gee's understanding of language and identity, Frank D'Angelo's synthesis of evolutionary theory and writing process, Lennard J. Davis' discussion of the able-bodied individual as compared to the disabled, and Jacques Lacan theory of establishing identity in front of the mirror.
