Minorities remain significantly underrepresented in nursing. As evidenced in the lack of available Hispanic nurses, nursing faculty, and nursing leadership. Research indicates minority healthcare providers are an essential component of delivering culturally sensitive care to minority populations. The quantitative descriptive study examined potential cultural influences on career selection among Hispanic registered nurses. In the study, preliminary inferences provided an introductory picture of culture and career selection associations among Hispanic registered nurses. Statistical analyses identified positive correlations between education and autonomy, and cultural elements with career anchors. Increasing the interest and recruitment of under-represented populations, such as Hispanics, not only serves to diversify the nursing profession, but can also reduce existing healthcare disparities.
