The study focuses on the multicultural reality of the United States of America. The phenomenon of cross-culturalism is challenging everyone, and I believe that everyone has a contribution to make. The gift of this research to the field of homiletics is a manual on how to craft and deliver a local cross-cultural preaching event. This method summarizes the research of the author and the experience and wisdom of several European American and U.S. Latinos/as preachers who have consecrated their lives to the cause of bridging differences among people of different cultures, languages and dreams. They are like bridges built with strong foundations on both sides to bear the heavy and trans-cultural traffic that needs to cross from one side to the other.

The Shrine of Saint Francis Xavier and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Parish of Saint Mary in Grand Rapids, and the Parish of Saint Francis de Sales, located in Holland, Michigan, were the subjects of study.

This trans-cultural manual is mainly intended to assist those preachers who will come from Latin America, especially from Mexico, to do ministry among U.S. Latinos and European Americans in this country, and those European American preachers who will preach in Spanish to U.S. Latinos/as, especially Mexicans. My hope is that this study will ease their way into the much needed and long delayed cross-cultural preaching ministry.

The dream of the author is that the cross-cultural preaching event presented in this study will evoke the passion and desire of other preachers to craft and to deliver local preaching events and that every move in their homilies might be filled with culture-sensitive stories, metaphors and illustrations planted, grown, and harvested in the native and fertile lands of their participants.
