Thesis (M.F.A.)--Long Island University, The Brooklyn Center, 2016.
Edgar is a series of chapters exploring the uneasy feeling of disjunction when lost items return to their owners differently from how they were remembered. The story follows the departures and returns of belongings, memories, and people, in the life of a young artist named Edgar. Modelling the flow of a string of memories, the pattern of the chapters runs achronologically, so the reader simultaneously sees Edgar daydreaming on playgrounds of his childhood, moving back to his hometown as an adult, learning how to draw, reestablishing a relationship with his older brother, failing to reestablish a romantic relationship with an ex-girlfriend, falling in love in high school, staying home on snow days, and feeling uneasy about the friendship he's established with his ex-girlfriend in lieu of a romantic relationship. Eventually Edgar himself disappears and the story continues without him.
