Missouri school districts are spending significant amounts of money to fund technology needs. Between the progress made in technological trends and the needs that schools have to maintain and update technology, the need for those funds increases every year. A recently added strain to schools' technology budgets includes the requirement for all Missouri schools to implement the new computer-based assessment program this Spring. This has placed an additional strain on technological funds.

Surveys were sent to K-8 teachers in 18 school districts surrounding the researcher's home district. The school districts were divided into three groups based on total enrollment, student to teacher ratio, and free and reduced lunch rate. The survey results were then analyzed to look for statistical significant differences among the responses of the groups of schools. Results of the analysis showed that teachers do believe that professional development in technology and the use of technology in the classroom does have a positive impact on student achievement. The analysis also identified that when compared for statistical significant differences, several questions were identified. Implications and suggestions for future research are provided in Chapter 5.
