The purpose of this research was to discover the level of intentionality to stimulate Christian formation in the context of fully online undergraduate baccalaureate Bible education at ABHE schools. Since ABHE affirms transformational education as part of its institutional mission, it seemed apparent that this goal should be manifested in the online modality. The methodology for this research was designed with the following data gathering efforts. The first step was for the researcher to evaluate websites for ABHE institutions that are offering online bachelor's degrees in Bible/Theology/Ministry or other related disciplines to discover institutional articulations that aligned with the ABHE transformational education goal. The second step was to contact the institutions and request their participation in the study and their willingness to respond to a brief survey that revealed institutional practices by which Christian formation was being addressed in the on-campus and online environments. The third step was to request syllabi for online Bible courses taught during academic school year 2019-2020/2020-2021 from institutions that met the research criteria. These syllabi were evaluated for evidence of intentional integration of Christian formation assignments and practices. The fourth step was to interview institutional personnel who oversee the online education for the purpose of deepening the context of the data discovered through the other means. The researcher also gathered institutional population data so that some analysis of institutional effectiveness at facilitating Christian formation in the online setting might be discovered. The population for this research were those ABHE institutions who met the research criteria of offering fully online undergraduate baccalaureate degrees in Bible/Theology/Ministry or some related field. Of the 23 institutions who qualified for the study, only 14 elected to participate in the research. The findings of the research revealed that practices by which professor-to-student relationships were established and maintained were a key to facilitating Christian formation in the online environment. Also, the use of adult-oriented, learner-centered pedagogies enhanced the formation of the learners who were stimulated to employ what they were learning in their own environment as online learners.
