The aim of this research was to explore and understand the Taiwanese American older brother and younger sister dyad relationship in relation with acculturation in early adulthood. The study consisted of five pairs (10 participants) of older brothers and younger sisters in their early adulthood, who were all Taiwanese American born. Participants were given the Asian American Multidimensional Scale (AAMAS) and they separately completed a semi-structured interview that consisted of 22 primary questions about the sibling relationship and culture. A theoretical thematic analysis with constant comparison was completed for the collected data. The results from the research found four main themes from the sibling pairs: expected sibling roles of older brothers, discrepancies between brother and sisters' views on cultural expectations, sibling differences in communication and expression of affection, and family-oriented siblings and support giving. Overall, regardless of acculturation level on Culture of Origin or European American culture, siblings all had a sense of duty to their family. Furthermore, siblings that adopted more communication of affection appeared to have a more positive relationship with their siblings.
