The purpose of this dissertation was to determine whether a scriptural foundation for the utilization of the diaspora missions methodology exists. To ascertain whether this foundation exists, an exploration of six biblical passages, three Old Testament passages and three New Testament passages, was performed examining each passage through the lens of Acts 17:26-27and subjecting each to a rubric developed from Eckhard Schnabel's work on the Acts passage to determine whether the movement of people was sovereignly ordained for a redemptive purpose. Second, an evaluation was made on the applicability of a missional hermeneutic as an interpretive key in the reading of Scripture and its impact on diaspora missions. Close attention was given to the hermeneutical process followed by the examination of a missional hermeneutic generally and Christopher Wright's hermeneutic specifically. Finally, the early church missional methodology was explored for its use of diaspora mission and its example for the current church. The results of the research revealed that within the biblical record, God has ordained the movement of his creation specifically that they might seek and know him. Though God used a variety of methods to accomplish his purpose, within scripture exists a theology of movement revealing a God who uses movement for his divine purpose. Additionally, the creation of a missional hermeneutic is a unifying lens that that exposes God's Missio Dei and invites the church to join in his mission to redeem humanity. This missional hermeneutic strengthens the case for the use of diaspora missions. Finally, the early church utilized several types of diaspora missions in its explosive growth stage. The examples of the early church and its use of diaspora missions provide today's church with a model to see how God uses the movement of people for his glory.
